Owen's poisonous "accident." 'Twas the night before Christmas, and Owen ate a $100 dark, dark chocolate cake. We were in a different state. It was a holiday. Chocolate is poisonous. His mom was scared. Very scared. We called the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 888 426 4435 Click here to go to their website. They are open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. It can cost $65 dollars, but it was worth every penny. They explained how to take care of Owen and his belly full of dark chocolate cake. In 5 minutes, the chewed up cake was on the porch. No one wanted to eat it since it had been in Owen's belly. But, Owen survived. In fact, he slept like a baby that night. And the humans ate cookies instead. Do you have all these things in your Dog or Cat Safety Kit? Check out this recommended list here.
Owen's mom didn't have all this stuff. She is shopping for stuff this week. Do you have everything in a kit? If there was an emergency, is your kit ready to go? Make sure your emergency supplies are in one plastic case or another container. In an emergency you don't want to have to be going thru drawers to find what you need. Is there anything that should be added to this list? Send us an email or write a reply to this blog. Share it with all of us! |
